Still Motivated!

——–

Here’s how awesome last night raiding was:

We engaged Gluth right? Bell started dragging him to the end of the room and we asked “Um, who’s tanking with Bell?”

*crickets*

TIGER! You do it!

WHAT!?! I’m in my KITTY-suit!

Well, oh, ok…. ok, got him Bell. tick tick tick Ok I’m at 3 stacks *tau-*

EVERYTHING FREEZEZ!

OMGOMOGMOMGOMG!!!!

Meanwhile in vent -

Bell: Oh sh*t I just DC’d!

Me: I think I did too!

Mel: Well you’re still holding aggro…. oh, there it goes

DECIMATE! ZOMBIES EVERYWHERE!

*Meanwhile I’m staring at the loading screen*

When I finally get back in-game, our second DK (not Mel) is dead, and Gluth is at 20% or so.

Bell and I then continued to tank the crap out of him and we all collectively wiped up the floor with his face.

It was a GREAT night.

Because I STILL Can’t Leave Well Enough Alone…

I diddled with my header…

again.

PS, I wanna look like a Tiger in my kitty form.

This I demand.

For the Sake of Staving off Impending Doom…

I’m getting myself into another of those ‘I wish I did more art’ ruts that inevitably lead me to not doing too much of anything at all. I’ve added yet ANOTHER wordpress blog to my account: I now have SAC, my personal portfolio site, and a site ready for an online comic that I want to write maybe someday if I can get motivated enough.

This also usually leads to Writer’s Blah and THAT leads to not getting anything done here either.

Come on Tiger! You just went to a seminar last night on organizing your life and getting things done, you’re supposed to be motivated and activated…. instead I look at all the pieces of chaos around me and, not knowing where to start, simply freeze and do nothing.

Have you ever stumbled upon a rabbit? Yeah, it’s kinda like that.

SO!

To stave off impending doom, I’m going to talk about patch notes!

Here’s the Druid-flavored Blue:

  • Ferocious Bite: This ability now only uses up to 30 energy.

Well, ok, what’s this mean to you and I?

Blizzard said they would be making small changes to increase cat-form’s overall sustained DPS. Not burst DPS mind you, but sustained. I think that this will have the intended affect, as well as making kitty dps rotations simoutaneously more complicated and simple.

It’ll be more complicated if you never bothered useing Ferocious Bite in the first place. I personally try to use it, but oftentimes it’s more advantageous to just sit doing white damage for a few seconds until one of my bleeds wears off and then refresh that.

If you have been using Ferocious Bite as often as you could (which should only be when Mangle, Rip, Savage Roar, and Rake are up, and you somehow find yourself with 5 combo pooints), you’ll sometimes often have to struggle to get back to 5cp and refresh one of your skills before it falls off. If you don’t have Tiger’s Fury ready then you can easily find yourself at the beginning of your attack rotation, and DPS is shot.

Ferocious Bite previously would drain all your energy when you used it, now it only drains 30!

Now, go forth my kitties, and rip some face!

I Love The Taste Of Freshly Rent Flesh In The Morning

Mmmmm, don’t you?

Sorry I’ve been silent. I started writing about my UI and then realised it didn’t showcase my stylish (default) raid frames. Then I started again and that screenshot didn’t have my new Rogue Power Bars in it. I want to be able to show you all a picture when everything is up and running and my screen is cluttered to the MAX!

Yeah, those zen-like minimalist interfaces? They sure look snazzy but I can’t handle ‘em. I like to click.

shhhh, don’t tell anybody!

Oh! Speaking of clicking, I got to do a quick (ish) run of the plague quarter in Naxx last night. It was only a 10-man, and Malorne knows I didn’t need any loot, but they needed an extra DPS and I know that, even in bear spec, if I try real hard I shouldn’t be too much of an embarrassment.

Plus I just wanted to.

The raid itself wasn’t really anything special. They weren’t the best or most experienced players, but they were trying and nobody was an asshat. It was clear from early on, however, that we weren’t going to be downing anything quickly or effeciently.

See, we started in plague quarter and the gargoyles… oooh the gargoyles. They healed a few times, and we wiped to them once. But, like I said, the group tried hard and we eventually got everything down.

What astounded me was my position solidly on the top of the dps meter. I didn’t expect to be there, but, looking at the rest of the group I probably shouldn’t have been suprised. There was myself along with 3 other Unemployed. Two were healers, and one was an alt-mage. I inspected him, ok, he’s in greens and blues mostly, so is pretty much everyone else.

Well there’s that solved.

I don’t know, I’m rambling. Really, there wasn’t anything much to write home about, I just enjoyed being able to do some pure dps without having to worry about tanking (except on Heigan, I was the only melee that could dance, so I ended up tanking for the rest of the fight as we 4-manned him)

OH, did I tell you about the parrot?

Yeah, I totally got attacked by a parrot.

Atrides took me out for sushi, just like I wanted for my birthday (which was a week ago), and afterwards we wandered over to some random pet store.

This was the kind of pet store with animals all over the place and people picking them up and cuddling them and… there were parrots.

I’m terrified of parrots. Those beaks are FREAKING BIG!

Well, there were some college kids, two guys and a girl. Guys were being jerks and piling parrots onto their female friend. So, me being the nice person that I am, after she had divested herself of the largest, I helped remove the remaining two.

This peach-colored puffy-headed thing went right back onto the perch, but there was a white one (larger than a cockatiel but smaller than a mackaw) noticed I had a necklace.

Anyone who owns parrots probably knows what happened next.

Up my arm, pausing on the way to bite my hand as I try to remove it, nuzzle past my hair and then it couldn’t be bothered with anything not involving my necklace.

It’s very scary having a beak that large mouthing a very flimsy strand of beads that close to your neck. Ugh! No parrots!

Eventually one of the workers came and rescued me and I was all better, but geez, it was scary. The freaking bird had to be removed by force! Seriously! She grabbed its legs and hoisted it upside down! Crazy evil creature.

I’ll stick with cats.

PS – the sushi was great, but what the crap is Inari and why was it a brown sweet-ish packet with rice inside? Very odd. I’d kill for some miso soup right now though.

EDIT: Ok, I just looked up Inari, and I feel cheated! I wanted fish dammit, what’s with this packet of fried tofu crap? I don’t want tofu! If I go again I’ll make sure to say no inari, gimmie the mackarel or something instead! (I got tuna, crab, and inari for my nigiri sushi, the tuna was fantastic, just melted in my mouth!)

The maki sushi I ordered were tuna and salmon and… not what I expected. They were inside-out, and the salmon one at least had something cruncy and bread-ish tasting in it as well. They were plenty large, oh my yes, just not exactly what I was expecting.

I did get my money’s worth though, and I’d love to go back, and holy crap I just turned an edit into a long-winded report on my sushi dinner…. yea.

If you’ve been reading me for a while and you haven’t realised how much I like food, well, yeah.

Whalp, I’m Done, What About You?

Well, perhaps not completely done, but PRETTY darn close to it. I was lucky enough to be awarded my T7.5 shoulders last night, which I promptly took and, spending all the badges I had, bought my T7.5 legs as well, thus finally granting me the 4pc bonus.

Actually, while I really wanted that piece, rolling on it gave me little twinges of guilt. You see, other than the 4pc bonus, the shoulders and the legs weren’t all that much of an upgrade. Once I’d had them fully gemmed and enchanted they really only gave me a few points here and there, and in fact, since I’ve replaced my Valor Medal of the First War with a Defender’s Code, my base dodge% has gone from ~40% down to ~38.5%. (Though I can and will be replacing some of my attack gems with agility and/or dodge gems in an attempt to make up for this)

Related, I switched out the Valor medal instead of my Essence of Gossamer. I’m loath to set down the +111 stamina and the proc-shield for only 2 points of dodge and another ‘oh shit’ button. It’s obvious that the Essence of Gossamer is by far superior when off-tanking, and tanking more than one mob, so right now I’m trying to think weather being the Main Tank for Sarth +D would warrant adding the two dodge trinkets instead of the extra stamina. Stamina is something I can depend on, dodge is random, are there any more experienced tanks that can weigh in on this for me?

I’ve gotten to the point where gear upgrades are so tiny they’re almost laughable. This is the nitty gritty part now, where I need to start critically analyzing every item, every enchant and every gem to find what my optimal set-up is. I’m rather sad right now that I’ll never get the shiny + sign on my Be.Imba profile, but that’s just because my Idol of Terror is a lvl 70 item and there’s nothing better out there right now for bears.

I’m also going to have to get used to rolling on loot, and not getting anything for a long time. I’ve spoke about this before, about how guilty I was feeling about getting so many pieces. I knew this time would come though, where I would hit the ceiling (especially with T7.5 being max tier), and thus my upgrades would stop coming.

Actually, I think it’s a good thing. I was a little sloppy in the past with my gems and enchants, resistant to spending all my money on things that I could very easily be replacing the next week. Now, however, that’s not nearly as much of an issue. The gear I have, being the best (or nearly) that I can obtain right now deserves the very best gems and enchants, and I need to get this stuff pronto. No slacking, no laying about. There’s no excuse for me having 2 pieces of polar gear that are still un-gemmed. /blush.

On Another Note:

Kal posted some very interesting guides on being the ultimate switch-hitter as far as tanking and DPS goes. He calls it the anti-tank. As soon as I get all my bears in a row I intend on reading the three applicable articles more in-depth and trying this out. It sounds like fun :)
